Concert attire is not necessary. For the Finals Concert, men wear a tuxedo or a dark suit. Women wear a floor length dress—a concert stage gown or an evening skirt and blouse is also suitable. Choose colors carefully.

As a Finalist, do I have to spend the whole afternoon at Jordan Hall.

If you become a Finalist, you must be at Jordan Hall by 1 p.m. on Sunday and are not free to leave until the end of the awards ceremony, usually around 4:30 p.m.

Are the judges the same in the Semifinals and the Finals?

The Metropolitan Opera provides a judge for the Finals on Sunday. The Semifinals judges assist the Final's judge.

Will I have an opportunity to speak with the judges about my performance?

Finalists and Semifinalists are invited to the Colonnade Hotel (120 Huntington Ave) after the Finals Concert for comments from the judges. A buffet will be served. Each judge will have about 5 minutes to speak with each Finalist. Each Semifinalist will have the opportunity to meet with 1 judge to receive comments. The Semifinalists name and the judge to meet with will be posted at the buffet. Each Finalist may meet with each judge. Semifinalists should be at the Colonnade by 5:30 p.m. Finalists should proceed to the Colonnade as soon as they have changed. Singers who have attended in the past have found the judge's insights very helpful. Please wear the name tag that will be will be provided for you. Attendance is not required. Unfortunately we cannot allow any escorts into the room.
