Joseph Keckler
Bass-Baritone
New England Finalist, 2007

 

Joseph Keckler graduated from The University of Michigan, where he studied with George Shirley, after beginning training under Fay Smith in his native Kalamazoo.

 

Mr. Keckler has performed numerous roles at New York’s Amato Opera, including Padre Guardiano (La Forza del Destino), Ramfis (Aida), Colas (Bastien und Bastienne), Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Monterone (Rigoletto), Bonzo (Madama Butterfly), Angelotti (Tosca), Zuniga (Carmen), and Dr. Bartolo (Le Nozze di Figaro).

 

Recently, Mr. Keckler appeared as a principal in the premiere of John Moran’s opera, Zenith 5. He was also heard singing Kurt Weill selections in the popular cabaret series Weimar New York, at Joe’s Pub. Mr. Keckler has been seen at The Guggenheim, The Kitchen, and The Public Theater. He coaches with Sheila Plummer.
