Ryan D. Kuster
Bass-Baritone
New England Finalist, 2007
Bass-Baritone Ryan D. Kuster is a 2nd year graduate student at Boston University where he studies with Penelope Bitzas. At BU, Mr. Kuster has sung the roles of Garrido in Massenet’s La Navarraise, Amantio DiNicolao in Gianni Schicchi and has covered the roles of Masetto in Don Giovanni and Rakitin in Hoiby’s A Month in the Country. Last summer, he attended New Jersey Opera Theater appearing as Betto in both Gianni Schicchi and Ching’s Buoso’s Ghost. In addition, Mr. Kuster returned to Opera North for a second time, singing Ferrando in the 2nd cast of Il Trovatore. In their 2004 season, he was seen as Snug in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Fr. Laurent in Roméo et Juliette. On the concert stage, Mr. Kuster has performed the title role of Handel’s oratorio Saul with the Marsh Chapel Choir and Collegium and Adam in Haydn’s The Creation with the BU Symphonic Chorus. Upcoming performances include A Man with a Cornet Case in Argento’s Postcard from Morocco with BU and Colline in La Bohème with Ash Lawn Opera Festival. He will also be covering two roles at Chicago Opera Theater: Don Pedro in Béatrice et Bénédict and Bluebeard in Bartok’s Bluebeard’s Castle (covering Samuel Ramey). Mr. Kuster received his BM from Westminster Choir College.
