New England First Place Winner, 2007
After graduating from the Yale School of Music with his Masters Degree in Music last spring Matthew Plenk returned to Yale for his Artist Diploma. This February he will be performing Rodolfo in Yale Opera’s production of La Boheme at the Schubert Theatre. Previously with Yale Opera he has performed Tom Rakewell (The Rake’s Progress), Ferrando (Cosi fan tutte), Faust (Faust), Flute (Midsummer Night’s Dream), Nanki-poo (The Mikado), and Kudrj B s in Jan B cek’s (Kat’a Kabanova). While earning his Bachelor of Music at the Hartt School of Music, Mr. Plenk was featured in Don Giovanni, as Don Ottavio. Mr. Plenk has recently performed with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giusseppe Verdi, Hartford Symphony, Los Angeles based Musica Angelica Baroque, Intermezzo Opera, Bel Canto Northwest. Under the baton of Sir Neville Marriner Mr. Plenk has performed with Yale Philharmonia. He was a New England Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Guild Competition ’04, ‘07.
