Sara Heaton
Soprano
New England Finalist, 2008

Sara Heaton, soprano, recently appeared as Despina in Boston Baroque’s Così fan tutte with conductor Martin Pearlman. She joins Boston Baroque again, with Opera Boston, for their joint production of Semele, in which she will cover both Semele and Iris.  Also this season, Sara will perform with Opera Providence as Adele in Die Fledermaus, and will join Central City Opera this summer as an Apprentice Artist. 

 

Sara holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed a BA in Anthropology, and from Boston University, where she completed an MM in Vocal Performance. While at BU she performed as Musetta in La Bohème, The Sea in Before Night Falls, and Yvette/Bessie in Youkali & Mahagonny Songspiel. Other roles include the Second Woman in Die Zauberflöte and Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, and in opera scenes, Blanche in Dialogues of the Carmelites, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, and Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi. Last summer, she was a young artist at Opera North, where she was awarded the Brunson Award for outstanding improvement and potential. Sara is a student of Maria Spacagna.
