Olivia Vote
Soprano
New England Finalist, 2008

Mezzo-soprano Olivia Vote hails from St. Mary’s City, Maryland.  She holds a Bachelor’s of Music from the North Carolina School of the Arts and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at Yale University, studying vocal performance with Doris Yarick-Cross and Lili Chookasian.  This year Ms. Vote will sing Prince Orlofsky in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus and Judith in Bartok’s Bluebeard’s Castle with Yale Opera.  Other recent performances include: Olga in Eugene Onegin, Eva in Martinů’s Comedy on the Bridge, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Baba the Turk in The Rake’s Progress, L’Opinon Publique in Orphée aux Enfers, and Miss Bingley in the world premiere of the first act of Kirke Mechem’s opera, Pride and Prejudice.

 

Ms. Vote has performed often throughout northern Italy – last summer she appeared with the Orchestra Verdi di Milano and for the past two years she has been a featured soloist at the Alba Music Festival.  There she performed Brahms’ Leibeslieder Walzer, Bach’s Cantata 199 Mein Herze schwimmt im Blut, Perogolesi’s Stabat Mater and Beethoven’s Mass in C-major with the Romanian State Orchestra. Other recent highlights include Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Ravel’s Shéhérazade, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Handel’s Messiah, and master classes with Alan Held, Anne Murray, and Virgina Zeani.  This summer, Ms. Vote looks forward to joining the Gerdine Young Artist Program at The Opera Theater of St. Louis where she will cover Nicklausse in The Tales of Hoffmann.
