Praised by critics for his "rich, ringing tone" and "enchanting manner," baritone Dan Kempson is currently finishing his Master's degree at Manhattan School of Music, where he studies with Marlena Malas. In April of 2009, he will sing Gabriel von Eisenstein in their production of Die Fledermaus. Previous performances at MSM include George Jones in Street Scene, soloist in Orff's Carmina Burana, and Ronaldo Cabral in the NY premiere of John Musto's Later the Same Evening, a recording of which will be released on Albany Records.
 
Dan received his BM in 2007 from Peabody Conservatory, where his roles included Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro and Carl-Magnus in A Little Night Music.  Other previous performances include Papageno in The Magic Flute at the Seagle Music Colony, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte and John Brooke in Little Women with Intermezzo Opera Festival, and Carmina Burana with the Yale Symphony Orchestra, Connecticut Master Chorale, and New Choral Society of Scarsdale.  

Among Mr. Kempson's awards are the 2007 Encouragement Award from Opera Index, Inc, Third Place in the 2006 Charles Lynam Competition, and Finalist in the 2008 competitions of both the Oratorio Society of New York and Liederkranz Foundation. He is also a semifinalist in the 2009 Eleanor McCollum Competition of the Houston Grand Opera.
 
In the summer of 2009, Mr. Kempson will be a Bel Canto Young Artist at the Caramoor Festival, where he will cover Belcore in L'elisir d'amore.
