Maria Aleida
New England Finalist 2011

Cuban Soprano Maria Aleida began her music studies at the Vicente Emilio Sojo Conservatory in Venezuela in 1999.  Ms. Aleida sang in the Conservatory productions of  Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore  and Puccini’s La bohème. As a soloist Ms. Rodriguez sang with La Sinfonica de Lara, La Sinfonica de Falcon and La Sinfonica de Venezuela at the Teresa Carreño Theatre, under the batons of  Maestri Tarcisio Barreto, Angelo Pagliuca and Bruno Aprea, current Artistic Director of Palm Beach Opera.


Maria Aleida participated in  masterclasses  with soprano Mirella Freni in Venezuela, January 2007, and Montserrat Caballe, in Zaragoza, Spain, November 2008. In April of 2007 Maria Aleida moved to Miami and began her vocal studies with Miami voice teacher Manny Perez. Ms. Aleida is a prize winner at the Montserrat Caballe international voice competition in Zaragoza, Spain 2008, the Francisco Vinas International voice competition in Barcelona, Spain, 2009, the Mario Lanza Institute in Philadelphia in 2009, and the Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation, in NY, 2010.


She is a 2nd year Resident Artist at The Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia where she has sung: “ Nanneta in  Verdi’s Falstaff , and Musetta in La bohème. This season she will sing the role of Fiakermilli in Arabella by Richard Strauss.

During her studies at AVA she has performed concerts with The Symphony of the Americas at the Broward Center for the Performing arts in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, a Christmas Concert with the Riverside Symphonia under the baton of Maestro Mariusz Smolij in Lambertville, NJ, and in Doylestown, PA, in December, 2009, and a Concert with The Marcello Giordani Foundation at the St Jean Baptiste Church in New York with Maestri Carmine Aufiero and Steven Mercurio, December 2010.


Maria Aleida lives in Philadelphia and studies with Maestro Bill Schumann.
