Katy Kelly
Soprano
New England Finalist 2011

Katy Kelly studied at the Conservatory of Music and Drama, Dublin, where she obtained her MMus in Performance under Anne Marie O'Sullivan (voice) and Roy Holmes (repetiteur). She has won many prizes for her singing, including the IAWS John McCormack bursary and the Thomas Moore 'My Gentle Harp' competition. She recently represented Ireland in the 2010 Belvedere International Singing Competition, Vienna, and has sung in Europe’s most prestigious competitions including the IVC, Holland and the Stuart Burrows, Wales, for which she received the runners up prize. She recently performed in Carnegie Hall with the Thomas Moore Festival. She is a regular performer at the National Concert Hall, Ireland, including a performance with the National Symphony Orchestra during the 2008 RTE Summer Lunchtime Series Recitals in the NCH.

Recent concerts include a tour of Germany with the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival performing Faure’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Beethoven’s Fantasie, and the role of “Euridice” in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice. Other solo performances include Mozart'sRequiem, Haydn's The Creation, Handel’s Messiah, Saint-Saens’ Oratorio de Noel, Handel’s 250th Anniversary Concert, Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, "Queen of the Night" from Mozart's The Magic Flute, and “Musetta” in Puccini’s La Boheme.

Her recordings include six songs for the first ever full catalogue of Moore's melodies, and she was the featured soloist on the AIB Choral Society CD, "Simply Christmas" and a soloist on the Park Singers (under Sean Creamer) CD “Regardez le Chef”. She recorded the two “Könniger die Nacht” arias for the RTE television programme "The Symphony Sessions-The Sopranos" with the NSO, which aired in January 2009, and she also appeared in the 2008 programme “The Symphony Sessions”. Katy is currently studying for her GPD in Opera at the Boston Conservatory under Sara Goldstein. Upcoming engagements include "Queen of the Night" in June 2011 for Glasthule Opera, Ireland, and "Sandman" from Humperdrinck's Hansel and Grettel at The Boston Conservatory in February.
