Ed Purrington

2004 Regional Judge

Edward C. Purrington served as artistic administrator of The Washington Opera from 1987 to December, 2001. In his 14 years in the position, he served as the principal artistic administrator to Artistic Director Plácido Domingo, and before that to General Director Martin Feinstein. At The Washington Opera, he has managed a wide range of responsibilities, including consulting with the artistic director on planning and casting of future seasons, negotiating artist contracts, auditioning singers and narrating the company's annual season sales CD. Purrington continues as artistic consultant to the company,with particular concentration on the company's education and community outreach department and the new Vilar Young Artist Program.
