Peter Kazaras
2012 New England Regional Judge

Peter Kazaras, Tenor and Director, Seattle Opera; Artistic Director of Seattle Opera's Young Artists Program, Director of Opera UCLA. Kazaras has also directed productions for the Caramoor Festival, San Francisco Opera's Merola Program, Opera Cleveland, the Cabrillo Festival, Madison Opera, Santa Fe Pro Musica, Hartt School, the Academy of Vocal Arts, and Chautauqua Institution. As a singer, Kazaras's 12 roles at Seattle Opera have included Loge in Der Ring des Nibelungen, Pierre Bezukhov in War and Peace, and Captain Vere in Billy Budd. 

Kazaras has adjudicated the first and second International Wagner Competitions at Seattle Opera, the first Elardo International Competition in New York, Marilyn Horne’s competition at Music Academy of the West and also the competition at the Les Azuriales Festival in Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat in France.  He has also served as a judge for the District Auditions of the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions.
