James Robinson

2000 Preliminary Judge

James Robinson has directed a wide range of opera throughout North America, Europe and Australia. Recent credits include Rinaldo for Opera Australia in Sydney and Melbourne, Hansel and Gretel for Los Angeles Opera, Elektra and Norma for the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, Il Viaggio a Reims for New York City Opera and the US premiere of Antheil's Transatlantic for the Minnesota Opera. Additionally, his work has been seen at the Santa Fe Opera, the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm, Opera Ireland in Dublin and the Deutsch Oper Berlin. He has directed numerous productions for the Wolf Trap Opera Festival and the Manhattan School of Music, and has served on the visiting artist faculty of New England Conservatory and the University of Minnesota.
