Soprano Lori Hultgren is an alumnus of Indiana University where she received her Bachelors and Masters degrees and did postgraduate work in Voice. While attending Indiana University she had the opportunity to perform a wide variety of roles from opera and musical theatre including the title role in Carmen, Mother Marie in Dialogue of the Carmelites, Zaida in II Turco in Italia, Despina in Cosi fan tutte, Laurey in Oklahoma, and Mrs. Anna in The King and I. Ms. Hultgren has performed as a young artist for the Opera Theatre of St. Louis where she sang the role of Marthe in their production of Faust. She returned to St. Louis as an Artist in Residence in their touring production of The Barber of Seville as Berta. Ms. Hultgren has also performed frequently with Nashville Opera in their young artist program, as well as singing on the main stage as Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, and as Mary in their production of Der Fliegende Hollander.

This past season, the Minnesota native appeared with Annapolis Opera as Maddalena in Rigoletto, and as Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, as well as singing a concert version of Les Contes d'Hoffmann in the role of Giulietta with the Baltimore Opera. In the Fall of 2001, Ms. Hultgren made her soprano debut singing the title role in Richard Strauss' opera Ariadne auf Naxos with the Peabody Conservatory. This upcoming season, she will reprise her performance of Ariadne with the Britten-Pears program in Aldeburgh England under the direction of Maestro Oliver von Dohnanyi and Colin Graham. Ms. Hultgren has also performed in concert with the Annapolis Opera, Baltimore Opera, Baltimore Choral Arts Society, Nashville Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, and Detroit Symphony.
