Joshua Kohl

New England Finalist, 2005
Joshua Kohl, tenor, debuts with Boston Lyric Opera in February 2005 as The Vain Man/The Snake in Rachel Portman’s The Little Prince. This past summer he appeared with The Ohio Light Opera as Raoul Delacroix in the American Première of Emmerich Kálmán’s The Violet of Montmartre and as the Duke of Dunstable in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Patience.
Mr. Kohl will graduate in May with a Master of Music degree from Boston University. With BU’s Opera Institute, he has performed most notably as Joseph Brennan in Richard Wargo’s Ballymore, Part One: Winners and as Tybalt in Roméo et Juliette. Before coming to Boston, he earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. As an undergraduate, Mr. Kohl was featured in productions of The Ballad of Baby Doe and Conrad Susa’s Transformations.
Mr. Kohl returns to The Ohio Light Opera this summer (2005), where he will perform leading roles in productions of Die Fledermaus (Alfred), Sigmund Romberg’s Maytime (John Wayne), Emmerich Kálmán’s The Good Comrade (Franz/Alwin), and the World Première of Robert Ward’s A Friend of Napoleon (George).
