Theodore Green has established himself as one of the most exciting up-and-coming
Lyric Tenors of his generation. He was featured on the 1999 Richard Tucker
Opera Gala, which was telecast nation-wide, and recently made his European
debut as Rodolfo in La bohème with the Royal Swedish Opera,
and his Carnegie Hall debut as Florville in Il Signor Bruschino
with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.
Upcoming engagements include a return to the Royal Swedish Opera for
more performances of Rodolfo in La bohème and his debut
in the role of Cavaradossi in Tosca; and Rodolfo in La bohème
with both Toledo Opera and Opera Omaha.
He has sung Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor with Minnesota Opera
and Seattle Opera; Rodolfo in La bohème with Vancouver Opera;
Alfredo in La traviata with Michigan Opera Theatre, Tonio in La
fille du régiment with Boston Lyric Opera, The Duke in Rigoletto
with Central City and Nevada Opera, Nemorino in L'Elisir d'amore for
Knoxville Opera, Nadir in Les Pêcheurs de Perles with Sarasota
Opera, the title role in Faust with Des Moines Metro Opera; Martin
in The Tender Land with the Minnesota Orchestra, Sam Kaplan in
Street Scene with Central City Opera, Cassio in Otello with
Opera Theatre of St. Louis; Eric in the world premiere of Libby Larsen's
Eric Hermannson's Soul and Ernesto in Don Pasquale with
Opera Omaha; Almaviva in ll barbiere di Siviglia with Kentucky
Opera and Wolf Trap Opera, where he also was Belmonte in The Abduction
from the Seraglio. He returned to Des Moines Metro Opera in 1997 for
both the title role in Britten's Albert Herring and Don Ottavio
in Don Giovanni for their 25th anniversary season, and has since
been heard there as Rodolfo in La bohème, Rinuccio in Gianni
Schicchi, and Anatol in Vanessa.
Mr. Green was heard in recital with the New York Festival of Song in
Weill Hall, as well as Washington DC (NPR Broadcast). Mr. Green has been
heard with the St. Louis Symphony in The Dream of Gerontius; with
the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra in Die Entführung aus dem Serail;
Das Lied von der Erde with the Louisville Orchestra; the Chautauqua
Symphony in the Berlioz Requiem; with the Minnesota Orchestra in
Handel's Messiah and Haydn's Creation; and with the Orchestra
of St. Luke's as Philemon in Philemon und Baucis. He has sung the
Mozart Requiem with the New York Choral Society, and Handel's Messiah
with the Des Moines Symphony and the Colorado Symphony.
He was a winner of a 1999 Career Grant from the George London Foundation,
a 1999 Sarah Tucker Study Grant; and a 1999 Sullivan Foundation Grant.
He was a national finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council
Auditions, New England Region, in 1997. Mr. Green is a native of Adel,
Iowa and graduated from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa in 1995. He
received his Masters Degree from the New England Conservatory in 1997.
