Soprano Elizabeth Kennedy’s voice has been described by the Boston Herald as possessing an inner radiance and strength” -Gewertz. She was further commended by the Boston Globe for the role of Pamina, as she “unfurled her big creamy soprano and showed suavity of line, lucid diction and lovely soft high notes. She has a real presence and command.” -Larsen. A New England regional finalist in the 2000 NATSAA competition, Kennedy was also a second prize winner in the New England regional finals of the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions and was a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center .

Kennedy is a founding member of enCANTA Collective, an NYC ensemble dedicated to performing multicultural works of vocal chamber music. She is also an avid performer of twentieth and twenty-first century works of composers such as Arthur Berger, Robert di Domenica, Lori Laitman, Libby Larsen and Elliot Carter.

 

Her recent credits include New York solo appearances in Laitman's song cycle I Never Saw Another Butterfly, Mozart’s Sunday Vespers, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass , the roles of Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi and Adele in Die Fledermaus, Pertilote in Chanticleer with the Natchez Festival of Music, La Cugina in Madama Butterfly with Boston Lyric Opera, Pamina in The Magic Flute with Opera unMet, Gretel in Hänsel and Gretel with Longwood Opera, the Foreign Princess in Rusalka with Symphony ProMusica, and concert appearances with the Gardner Museum’s Young Artist Showcase, the Boston Chamber Ensemble, and the Lehman College and Community Orchestra.

 

Kennedy will return for her second season as a Resident Artist at the Natchez Festival of Music in ‘08, covering the role of Lucy in Menotti's The Telephone. She makes her Metropolitan Opera debut in September of '08 as a chorister in Verdi’s Requiem.
