Danièle LeBlanc is one of opera's busiest lyric mezzo-sopranos. In recent seasons, she has embarked upon a busy schedule that has included appearances with Opera de Quebec, Opera in Concert in Toronto, and Opera Ontario as Isabella in L'Italiana in Algeri, Dijon Opera as Jane Seymour in Anna Bolena, Charlotte in Werther, and as Annius in La Clemenza di Tito, Adalgisa in Norma, Edmonton Opera as Musetta and Rosina, Manitoba Opera as Musetta and Hansel, Kentucky Opera as Stefano and Musetta, L'Opera de Montreal as Rosina and Siebel in Faust, Vancouver Opera as Rosina, the Lyric Opera of Kansas City as Olga in Eugene Onegin, Opera de Quebec as Siebel, and the Opera Festival of New Jersey as Siebel.


During the past two seasons, she has appeared with Opera Columbus as Cherubino and returned to the Edmonton Opera as Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, L'Opera de Montreal as Dorabella, Opera de Quebec as Adalgisa and as the Witch in Hansel und Gretel, and Calgary Opera as Musetta for Calgary Opera, Manitoba Opera as Dorabella and to Quebec as Maddalena in Rigoletto. This spring, she returned to Montreal Opera as Isabella. Next season, return to Opera Columbus as Rosina.


As a concert artist, she has toured for Jeunesses Musicales of Canada in the title role of Bizet's Carmen, and performed Cleofe in La Resurrezione by Handel for the Studio of Ancient Music in Montreal. She also appeared with the Festival Lanaudiere as soloist in Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and Mendelssohn's Elijah, L'Orchestre Symphonique de Quebec in Berlioz' Romeo et Juliette, Choeur Polyphonique de Montreal and Coeur de Laval for the Requiem of Verdi.

An accomplished recitalist, Ms. LeBlanc has participated in a recital tour with Jeunesses Musicales of Canada, and a program in the Debut Recital Series at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.

Ms. LeBlanc is a graduate of McGill University with a Bachelor of Music with High Distinction, where she studied voice with Betty Doroschuk. She also studied opera at the Center for Italian Studies in Urbania, Italy with Carlo Morganti and was a member of the l'Atelier lyrique de l'Opera de Montreal, for whom she performed a number of roles in their main stage seasons.


Ms. LeBlanc first attracted international attention as a national finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in New York. In addition to her prize at the Metropolitan Opera, Danièle LeBlanc is a winner of the Louis Quilico Award by L'Atelier Lyrique, the Joseph Rouleau Award of the Jeunesses Musicales of Canada, the Jury Special Prize at the Jean Giraudeau International Voice Competition in Marmande, France, and the Connecticut Opera Guild Award.
