Opera Auditions, as well as a finalist of the Loren Zachary Society Auditions
and the Friedrich Schorr Competition. She toured with New York City Opera,

Singher, Martin Katz, George Shirley, Gwendolyn Kodolfsky, and Joan Dornemann.
A favorite of Michigan audiences, Ms. Yova has performed with Michigan
Opera Theatre and the University Musical Society Choral Union as well
as the Dearborn, Birmingham-Bloomfield, Plymouth, Livonia, and Grosse
Pointe Symphonies in a wide variety of repertoire including Haydn's Lord
Nelson Mass, Mozart's Solemn Vespers and Mass in C minor, the Brahms Requiem,
Dvorak's Stabat Mater, along with pops and opera highlights programs.
Performances during the 1998-99 season have included Bach's St. Matthew
Passion and Handel's Messiah with the Fort Street Chamber Orchestra and
Chorale in Detroit, Orff's Carmina Burana with the Macomb Symphony Orchestra,
an Opera Gala with the Plymouth Symphony Orchestra and mezzo-soprano Irina
Mishura, and as guest recitalist for the St. Mary's on the Lake Concert
Series.
Ms. Yova has been a member of the Detroit-based Lyric Chamber Ensemble
since 1990. Teamed with members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, she
has performed in everything from song recitals and chamber music to opera,
operetta, and pops repertoire.
Valerie Yova's rich, lyric soprano timbre can express the pathos of a
Puccini heroine or move like quicksilver in Handel's Messiah. This versatility
combined with a engaging stage personality make her equally suitable for
opera, oratorio, chamber music, and pops repertoire.
